Background and Purpose
|
Elliott's
Custom Sawmill is located near Winston Salem, NC where the owner, Ken
Elliott and his family live on a farm raising Black Angus cattle. In
2001, Ken purchased a Woodmizer sawmill to make lumber for the various
fence and barn maintenance projects that demand attention with the 100
year old farm. Word got out around the county that he had a mobile
Woodmizer sawmill
which enabled him to expand to sawing for others. Ken's background includes managing large construction projects. Many acres of woodlands were cleared on each project and simply burned or hauled to the dump. This seemed to be a huge waste of a good resource to Ken. It is Elliott's mission to show respect for the trees that have been growing for decades by harvesting or salvaging them to create lumber for building or craft. The wood's inner beauty will then last for decades more. |

Lumber Project Examples

Band Mill Advantages
A big
advantage in using a mobile Woodmizer sawmill
service is eliminating the haul cost. The conventional sawmill is
stationary to which you must deliver the logs and must retrieve the
lumber. The mobile Woodmizer sawmill eliminates both of these
challenges.
Another
big advantage is that the mobile Woodmizer mill is a band saw. The
blade kerf is
1/16 th of an inch. This means much less sawdust, therefore, more
lumber per log (30%-40% more than a conventional sawmill.)
The
Woodmizer band saw style sawmill makes a very clean cut leaving very
small (if
any) saw marks on the lumber

Mobile Service Rates for Woodmizer

Since each job is different, I like to visit each site prior to
mobilization of the Woodmizer sawmill so that I can look at
the area with you. We can
also make arrangements for dealing with the the cut lumber as well as
the slabs (waste). After seeing the logs and the site I can give you an
estimated quantity and can quote a firm price to you for the specific
size lumber you desire.
The prices above are general. Rates may be less if the timber is straight, soft and cut "dimensionally". Rates may be more if the timber is crooked, hard and "quarter sawn". What ever your requirements may be, we strive to accommodate your requests.
